FAQs
How do I determine what ECU I have?
There are a few ways to determine what ECU your vehicle has. First is the model year of the vehicle. Vehicles 1999-2003 are equipped with an ms42 or ms43 ECU.(323/328=ms42 325/330=ms43) Both of which can be purchased pre-tuned or have yours sent in to be tuned. Vehicles 03/2003-2006 are equipped with an ms45.1 or ms45.0(Z4, etc). These vehicles require a remote tune. However, in most cases, xi models are still equipped with an ms43 ECU even into 2005. The best way to determine for sure what ECU you have is to refer to the MAF sensor. A 3 pin connector on the MAF signifies an ms43 ECU. A 6 pin connector on the MAF signifies an ms45/.1 ECU.
Is this tune compatible with my vehicle?
To know if a tune is compatible with your vehicle, first make sure it falls within the years listed under the tune you want. From there make sure your vehicle meets all requirements of the stage you are wanting. If your vehicle is within the correct years and meets the requirements of the stage you were wanting simply select your vehicle model under the model section before you add it to your cart. Disregard any lettering attached to the model of your vehicle.
Example: 330i/xi/ci = 330
If your model is not listed we do not offer tunes for that vehicle. If the year of your vehicle is not listed, we might offer remote tunes for your vehicle, contact us for more information on remote tuning.
Does this tune work for automatics?
Yes, all Tunes are compatible with automatic transmission vehicles. However, some tunes include features only usable by Vehicles equipped with a manual transmission. For a full list of features refer to the tuning page of your vehicle.
What is a remote tune?
Remote tuning is an alternative way to tune an ECU without removing it from the vehicle. For a remote tune, the vehicle owner will need access to a Windows laptop and an INPA compatible USB to OBD2 cable. Upon remote service appointment, the vehicle owner will connect the car and laptop. Then we connect remotely to upload and set up programs needed to Flash the ECU. From there we read, edit, then flash your ECU. Some models require an update which makes the process a little longer. To receiver remote tune contact us via email or Instagram direct message to set up a date and time for remote Training Services.
What is launch control?
Launch control is a function of the ECU that holds the RPMs at a specific point to allow the release of the clutch while maintaining grip. Launch control is often referred to as two-step since it is a second RPM limiter. However, if you are looking for loud bangs, it's better to choose a higher RPM for launch control, which becomes less efficient for actual launching, so make your decision wisely.
How do I activate launch control?
Launch control is available for all manual vehicles. To activate launch control first make sure traction control is fully disabled. From there make sure your burbles are active by having cruise control on or air conditioning off. Then depress the clutch all the way to the floor, select first gear, and floor the accelerator pedal to 100%. The RPMs will be held at the selected launch control RPM set point. For the proper activation of launch control the vehicle must be stationary so that the computer sees a vehicle speed of 0. Other things such as ABS or DSC errors can cause the launch control not to function properly or at all. Launch control will not work with a welded diff.
What is EWS delete?
Any shipped ECU will come with ews deleted. This means the engine control module will not need to be in sync with your car's ews system. However, all other modules must still be in sync with the ews system to start the vehicle. The security system will maintain all stock features including the functions of the key.
